How to Live Without Resentments

Someone must risk returning injury with kindness,or hostility will never turn to goodwill.
Tao Te Ching
To live without resentments, you must change the way you hold onto them. Resentments survive and thrive because you are unwilling to let them go. At the heart of the matter is your ego's need to be right. You extend kindness to yourself by letting go of your anger. As you practice love and forgiveness, you allow yourself to live in peace and harmony.
To live beyond judgment, change the way you look at yourself and others.
Become aware of when you are judging and criticizing. Start substituting noticing for judging. Gradually you will move away from the need or want to pit yourself against others. You will begin to see yourself as a person who notices rather than judges. Kindness with no judgment becomes a way of life when you see yourself in others.
To live by cooperating, practice seeing yourself in others.
The Tao Te Ching teaches that all life emerges from the same Source Energy. There is only a state of oneness. When you speak or act in ways that hurt others, you hurt yourself as well. You experience their pain. When you live by cooperating with others, you raise your own level of excellence as well. You use the power of others to elevate yourself. Shift your thinking from competition to cooperation and put harmony back in your life.
To live with self-mastery, focus on understanding yourself rather than blaming others.
Whatever emotions you may be feeling, take your attention away from anyone you hold responsible for them. No one has this power over you without your consent. Bypass blame and let go of your need to understand the other person. Focus instead on understanding yourself and change your perception that others have power over you. Take responsibility for how you respond to other people and events.
A tree that cannot bend will crack in the wind.
Tao Te Ching
The Tao Te Ching helps you to follow the Great Way by closely studying nature. You will notice how solid and durable things in the natural world are often gentle and even weak. Lao-tzu views life as soft and pliable. So listen more and allow your viewpoints to be challenged. By bending when necessary, you are actually choosing strength.

Remove Your Discomfort With Change

"In a world of change, the learners shall inherit the earth, while the learned shall find themselves perfectly suited for a world that no longer exists." - Eric Hoffer I saw this quote on someone's Instagram account the other day and it really started to dawn on me, that some people are really going to get left behind. About 3 times a week, I'd take my runs outdoor under the sun at the large park just 3 minutes walk away from where I live, and I'd pass by many old people. Some would be sitting on a bench alone, some congregated in a group at the resting shelters, others have hired help to push their wheel chairs around, or the ones who have a little more spark left in them would be trying their best to get some workout in at the fitness area.
Part of the reason why I started to "force" myself to put myself "out there" to do my runs instead of getting comfortable with the treadmill in the gym indoors is because I want to see a preview of a life that's NEVER going to be mine. Also as a reminder why my health would always be my greatest wealth and asset in life no matter where it takes me. It keeps me motivated and my fuel running. It makes me remember WHY I'm doing "this" when I feel like cutting my workout routine short and giving up. While I'm huffing and puffing on my third round of sprint, feeling like my heart's about to explode, I'd turn to look at them, and I'd remember my "Why".
I'd remind myself, "I don't want to live a life that looks like that. I'm going to make damn sure that's never going to be me." And I know what it's like to be physically impaired, along with being mentally and emotionally trapped altogether. Losing my health for 3 whole years was one of the worst crisis but the best gifts I've ever gotten in my life. Even though I couldn't see it right then, but it made me realize just how much privilege I've wasted away and taken for granted when I was living in a healthy, thriving body which I can call my "home".
Now that I have my health back, I'm never losing sight of the luxury for each moment to feel grateful for this limitless potential of a machine that can do so much, and is still going the extra miles for me everyday tirelessly pumping oxygen throughout every cell in my body so I can use it as a vehicle to sculpt my mind and my heart. How to think and feel. How to combine the right thoughts with the right emotions to give it power and breathe life into it. So I can design and create my world on my terms. I got myself obsessively educated with the biochemistry, physiological, and every aspect of what makes a human being alive. Truly alive. Not just "settling" or "getting by" or "getting used to it."
Too many people live a mediocre life as a prisoner of their own body and mind, never once taking the time to study their own user's manual to allow it to operate at its highest and most optimum function. To ever get the chance to know and experience the power it holds, or just simply being aware what a real gift it truly is to even be alive to be, do, and have anything you can dream up in your mind and have your heart set on achieving it to hold it in your hands. To not be on life support or feeding tube, that is a luxury. That is a privilege. To have that ease of the ability and opportunity to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch everything around us in our inner and outer world.
As we're ushering into the mid-year in another month really soon, let's all put in the extra effort to educate ourselves about the all the small changes and simplest things we can do to allow ourselves to become a better self than we were yesterday. It's not just about getting left behind in technology advancement, but you're going to start leaving your mind behind and also the awareness of your physical body, if you neglect it long enough. You can't just rely on popping pills every day to keep yourself "alive" and a band-aid over the pain.
That's not living, that's just "surviving" and no decent human being should live that way if there was another choice. It seems like a much easier option to just pop a pill to make that headache or migraine go away, but if we don't get to the root of the problem, it's never going away. It's here to stay in no one else's world but yours, and yours only. Actually, it does affect someone else's world too when you come in contact with them. So if you truly love the people around you, you'd really make the effort to ensure your (inner) world is a much better place that you can feel is truly worth sharing and rubbing off. How can you expect anyone to enjoy your company if you're suffering in your own body you're living in? That's one way to spark Joy... or "Friction".

Empowered Compassion Offers You a Path Straight to Time Success

Genuine self-empowerment requires both realism and compassion. Only then can you develop the resilience to flex without giving yourself away. And as compassion becomes a way of life, you thrive by relating as a human, not a superhuman.
Any place you start exploring and experimenting with Empowered Compassion™ is fine. Just remember, any growthful change works best when you start small and work up.
These 7 tips will help you take your first steps.
TIP #1:
Empowered Compassion™ draws its strength from your embracing the responsibility to be all you can be.
When you truly care about yourself, you naturally want to assume full responsibility for your life. As you grow your autonomy, you provide for your own needs. Not only that, but you make use of the choices that don't work out, learning useful lessons from ALL of your experiences.
TIP #2:
Empowered Compassion™ is grounded in the present moment.
You focus on how you can stand in your power right now. You don't immobilize yourself with fears of the future. You don't torture yourself with past regrets. Instead, you fully exercise your power in the one moment that exists - this one!
TIP #3:
Empowered Compassion™ helps you put unresolved anger in perspective.
The more you develop your own power, the less energy you spend recycling old grievances. Self-reference consolidates your power in your own choices. Focusing on how you can help yourself in the present becomes the top priority. Not only that, but as you embrace your own humanity, you accept others' fallibility more readily, too.
TIP #4:
Empowered Compassion™ overcomes self-criticism.
Living from this place, you create a climate where there is no room for self-criticism. Self-criticism feeds on unrealistic standards and a fundamental lack of self-respect. Empowered Compassion™ is pragmatic, realistic and kind. The more you value autonomy, the more you naturally support your strength and success.
TIP #5:
Empowered Compassion™ promotes authenticity.
You are befriending who you really are. By relating with honesty and directness, you stand on firm ground and are able to give your all. This is a very powerful way to live! Each time you step out and risk more fully, you invalidate past messages that say you need to hide behind a mask. You effectively replace those distortions with powerful, concrete confirmations of the fact that you belong in the world.
TIP #6:
Empowered Compassion™ is easy to distinguish from self-pity.
Self-pity blames and defends. It protects whatever you did that didn't work. On the other hand, when you relate from a place of Empowered Compassion™, you don't waste time scrambling for excuses. Your interest is in figuring out what works, and you give yourself every opportunity to enjoy success as you move forward.
TIP #7:
Empowered Compassion™ is a step-by-step process.
Rather than view this as a lofty goal, think of it simply as a way of befriending yourself right now. Every small step you take to support yourself helps! A little bit at a time, you will grow in thoughtfulness and realism, and outworn patterns will gradually lose their hold over you.
Right here, right now is just the place to be!

Dr. Romance on Patterns of Change

Dr. Romance writes:
I've been dealing with a lot of unwanted changes, and it's not easy. Losses, disappointments, changes - we all struggle when life doesn't go our way. Why is it so hard to handle change? Then there are the changes we want to make, fight hard to make - losing weight, giving up smoking, being more organized. Why is it so hard to create change?
The answer is patterns -- human beings are hardwired to seek out patterns and operate according to them. Every waking moment we are bombarded by overwhelming floods of data, infinite numbers of choices, confusing and conflicting information. Sheer survival depends upon your brain being able to sort through all of this every minute. The ingenious solution, built right in to your brain and nervous system, is the ability to operate according to patterns.
Your brain automatically searches and identifies many kinds of patterns. Patterns of sight mean that you can identify the chair from the table, the dining room from the bedroom, whether you see them in their three-dimensional form, or see a photograph, or even see the drawing created by your six-year-old. A table on a canvas by Van Gogh or Picasso is recognizable even though the perspective is skewed and the colors are strange. It still fits the pattern of table. Kinesthetic patterns mean you can reach for a utensil, pot or dish in the kitchen without even looking where you reach, or grab your toothbrush in the bathroom before you're really awake. A combination of kinesthetic and visual patterns means you can drive the familiar drive to work without even thinking about it and if you get a new job or move, you'll find yourself taking the old route if you don't pay attention.
The stress of paying attention is one of the major reasons why patterns are important. Research shows that moving to a new home is one of the most stressful experiences you can have, right up there with the death of a loved one. This doesn't appear to make sense -- since moving to a new home is usually a desirable thing -- until you think about patterns. All those kinesthetic, visual patterns have suddenly changed -- the pots, dishes and your toothbrush (not to mention the bathroom) are all in different places. So is the furniture. You're tripping over chairs that seem to be in the wrong places. You have to think every minute of the drive to work, because the route is unfamiliar. Each of these changed patterns represents a lot of stress. When you're operating within old, familiar patterns, you don't need to think about what you're doing. Your body is wired to do familiar things without having to think about them. This leaves your mind free to wander, and to de-stress.
As I write this, I'm touch-typing. I don't have to think about the spelling of the words, or which finger hits which key. here was a time, of course, when I couldn't type even one word without hunting and pecking for each letter, but (in the beginning) painstaking practice and repetition, and now many years of experience, mean that I can even talk to someone else while I type. Repetition and practice made the patterns part of my consciousness.
If you want to change a habit (for example, to develop a habit of wearing your car seat belt) you develop a pattern that incorporates the change (I'll get in my car, put the key in the ignition, fasten my seat belt, and then start car.) At first, you may even need a written note to remind you of the pattern, but if you consistently follow your new routine, it will be a pattern in a week or two. If you do it for several weeks, it will become ingrained enough to feel automatic you won't need to think about it at all. Changing even really tough patterns, like smoking, is possible if you break it down into each smoking habit you have (after dinner, at work, hanging out with friends) and develop a replacement pattern for each one (chew mint gum after dinner, take a short, brisk walk during work breaks, hang out in non-smoking places with friends,) and follow each new pattern consistently until all are changed. Having something different to focus on makes the psychological withdrawal easier.
Here's something that will help: We have a brain mechanism psychologists call "preparatory set." It's one of the mechanisms the mind uses to sort through the enormous amounts of data that flow in daily, and keep it manageable. By writing down the things you want to accomplish and making them clear, you can "program" that mechanism. Once programmed, it directs your attention to certain events and occurrences. To illustrate: When you decide you want a certain car (an SUV, a hybrid, or a Mini) you see that model everywhere, you notice every one on the freeway, you see every ad or commercial. Preparatory set works that way. Once you program it with your goals (visualizing in addition to writing is most effective) you will automatically be more aware of certain events, opportunities and people who can be helpful. You'll also be more clear about what you want, and this will sneak into your conversation and your general attitude, where others can pick up on it. It's not really magic, unless you believe as I do, that the mind is a miracle in itself.
For example, to make it easy to include easy exercise in your life, write down your goal (I will walk an extra half hour a day) and picture yourself walking and enjoying it -- perhaps you picture parking a few blocks away (where it's cheaper) and walk the rest of the way, or get off the bus or subway one stop early, or walk to that nearby restaurant (or art museum) for lunch, or take the stairs instead of the elevator when you go to the Xerox, or take a sandwich to a nearby park, or take the dog for a bit longer walk than usual before and after work. If you picture yourself walking and enjoying it, you'll soon find that you're noticing more new and different ways you can add in walking without stressing about it.
Change will still take work, but using this mental trick will help you reach your goals easier and faster.

Message From the Universe: What Your Thoughts Can Attract! B

"It's not that folks act a certain way around you, but rather that you attract certain types of folks based upon your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations.
Now that is really, really good news, huh?
The Universe"
Same as saying: "Misery attracts misery". The more you hang around negative people, the more you will tend to become negative yourself. The opposite is also true. When you tend to feel sorry about yourself and complain all the time, you will subconsciously look for people who complain and feel sorry about themselves. Similarly, we ARE what we EAT so when you eat like a pig, you will eventually look like one, unless you have one hell of a great metabolism. Nevertheless, in any of these statements presented, everything can be fixed. When you tend to think negative most of the time, you must change crowds and look for more upbeat people. Obviously, what you did before didn't work very well for you so change the frequency and start looking for people who are more positive and happy. You will start changing your attitude accordingly. Just like a chameleon, your mind will adapt to the color of the environment so make sure the latter is a great one. It is important to reach out to a mentor during moment of weakness so he/she can help you get out of this funk. We will all go through difficult times in life, and no one is immune to it at all. Do you think the rich people out there aren't fighting to keep their lifestyle as it is? They are more stressed than anyone else. If they don't, the fall can hurt badly so they pedal ten times harder to stay up there. Unlike its counterpart, the poor people are already living a simple life where if a big mistake is made, the fall won't hurt as bad as the rich people. Hence, the reason why we see very poor people happier than the rich one. They really have not much to lose in life.
I am not saying to let go of your dreams of becoming wealthy or live a glorified life. If this is what you want to do, then go for it. You need to come to evidence that the journey to go up there is interesting and challenging to say the least, but to stay up there is definitely a harder and more tiring process. You need to surround yourself with smarter people than yourself so you can keep up and continue pushing yourself to learn more so you can catch up. As I said, staying up there is NOT easy and you will always have to be creative and continue searching for more opportunities. The message I am trying to convey is that during the journey to becoming successful will be the most enjoyable one because it will teach you many lessons that you need to STAY successful when you get there. So put the negative thoughts aside for now, and forever and start joining groups of entrepreneurs that are also peddling hard to reach the top. You all have something in common here so to make things work, you will start depending on each other to keep yourself motivated to reach the top. Once up there, well, make sure not to fall too hard. Enjoy the view!

Thinking Does Not Equal Knowing

Are you the smartest person in the room? Wish you were? Used to be but age or some other factor have stolen your influence?
There was I time as a global speaker that I believed I was the smartest person in the room until after one speech many years ago I discovered I was probably the dumbest person in the room. What a wonderful and life-changing experience that was.
Let me ask you - what do you actually - know - other than the basics; your name, address, relatives, job position etc.?
If I was given the opportunity to question media folks, politicians, religious leaders, educational people etc. - "How do you know that?" I will personally guarantee you that 99% of the time they will give me opinions, prejudices, feelings or anything that has become a part of their mental "makeup."
Try it the next time you are having a conversation with anyone - boss, customer, spouse etc. "How do you know that?" And watch as they search for random information that in most cases will not be grounded in truth, facts or evidence.
What am I trying to say here?
Well, for starters there are some things we know but there are a lot of things we believe we know but we don't.
Take this article for example - there is no way I can know how you are reacting to anything I am sharing. Yes, I can guess but it will be just that - a guess and not grounded in facts.
Let me give you just one quick recent example.
Listen to any politician answer most questions and I will guarantee if you could personally follow-up with a - How do you know that, you would get a strange stare.
So what is the difference between knowing and thinking?
First of all, just because you learn something - from a book, seminar, class, friend, boss etc. doesn't mean what you are learning is true.
Second - just because something has now been etched in your mind that you learned and now believe or think - doesn't mean it's true or fact.
So how do we know anything?
Well, I know when I hit G on my keyboard G is coming up on the screen. When I hit - Save - I know it's saved. This is technology
. When I put my car in reverse I know I'm going backward. When I set the oven to 350 degrees - the same. Again, these are technology issues.
However, when I am driving 70 MPH on the highway and I am separated by 25 feet from the person in front of me I don't know that I could get in an accident. It's called assumptions. I am assuming his or her car won't break down in front of me while we are driving. Been there?
Just because I order a meal in a restaurant doesn't mean it will be cooked properly or is even clean. Now, I'm not making wild accusations here just simply that there is more in life that we don't know than we do but most people believe because they think something - they know it.
So, let me ask you - what do you think you know that you think you know but you don't really know

How to Speed Up Your Results

Do you ever find yourself in limbo... in that in-between place of knowing what you want, but it hasn't shown up yet? There's something you're trying to create, but the universe seems to be moving at a snail's pace. In that place between what you want, and waiting for its arrival, you often find yourself in doubt and indecision, and you sometimes end up feeling completely defeated.
Jackson Pruitt is a finance manager for a luxury auto dealership, and he was in exactly this type of situation. Not only is he naturally goal-oriented having been in sales most of his life, but financial targets are routinely encouraged for him at work. Walking the tight rope of what he wants to create and how he can speed up the process is a common theme for him (and anyone in sales or entrepreneurship).
Before talking about how we can speed things up, it helps to understand the anatomy of how things are manifested, so that we can unlock our hidden power and bring what we want to fruition.
This understanding begins with the knowledge there are two kinds of reality... vibrational reality and physical reality. The moment we crystallize an idea or a goal, it moves into vibrational reality. We might also call this the pool of possibilities... a holding tank... or a spiritual vault.
The point is, yes, there's a physical reality in things that we can see, and touch, and feel. But our manifestations are created in vibrational reality first, before they manifest into a physical experience.
So how do we speed up our results? Well, the first thing we have to do is put our desire into vibrational reality. And this is exactly what Jackson did. He began with a simple, clear thought about his desire.
Here's the anatomy of how things go from desire to manifestation:
Thoughts create reality.
It's an exact science.
And failure is impossible.
So think only thoughts of your desired outcome.
Our thoughts create a concept of what we want. When we think that thought, it instantly crystallizes in vibrational reality. Our only job at that point is to allow our desires to come TO us.
To speed up our results, the secret is to begin with a positive vibration. The strategy for doing this, as well as how to get past our doubts, worries, frustrations and impatience that can block our manifestations, are detailed further in this week's episode, so tune in!

Do You Need An Encourager In Your Life Now?

Do you need an encourager in your life now? Ever needed one in the past? Are you an encourager? Just so we are on the same page if you decide to read this article - an encourager is someone who - guess what - yes, encourages others. But, is there more to the idea of being an encourager? Yes, and I know firsthand what role an encourager can have in our life when we are heading in the wrong direction, hitting bottom or just feel like no one cares.
During my years I have had many occasions when I was in desperate need of encouragement rather than invalidation. And, on some occasions, these people showed up and, on many occasions, I was left alone to navigate life's challenges, trials, adversity and failures alone. I have learned both the hard way and the easy way the importance of having encouragers in our lives when we need them.
How about you - ever had to deal with a life issue alone and no one was in your corner or maybe even no one who cared? I can tell you if you have never been there that these times can be very trying life circumstances that can stretch us to our limits of faith, patience, hope, and belief forcing us to reach deep and find something we didn't even know we had.
What is the role of an encourager?
Encouragers are not in our lives to pave the way forward so that we can aimlessly wander through life's circumstances, lessons and challenges without effort, learning, fear or even guaranteed success. Encouragers are teachers. They are caring and compassionate souls who want to help us learn life's lessons with as little pain and trauma as possible but they are not in our lives to help us avoid what life wants and needs us to learn so we can be productive humans regardless of our roles, responsibilities or opportunities. Encourages can cheer us on, root for us and listen to our concerns and needs but their role is not to remove the learning from our lives that are necessary to master so we can grow and become productive in whatever fashion we have chosen.
Encouragers don't remove the pain or drama from our life, but they help us to find the inner courage, belief, and resilience to handle it, manage it, overcome it and yes learn from it.
Who can be an encourager?
Encouragers can be family, friends, co-workers, customers and even total strangers. I can recall years ago sitting in an airport waiting to board a flight when I was having a conversation with a total stranger. FYI - ever had one of those - where you shared intimate inner fears, dreams, plans, hopes or frustrations with a total stranger who you knew you would never see again? Happens all the time and why? We all need times to share, express and cathart and if we don't have people in our routine lives who can fill this role, we will reach out to anyone and everyone from time to time.
Back to my example - I shared with them the frustration of dealing with a challenging client that I had been working with for years. They listened respectfully as I went on for what seemed forever, and they finally asked a simple question. "Why are you tolerating this behavior and not just cutting the cord and moving on?" This is not what I thought I wanted to hear or felt I needed to hear but it was what they chose to share, and you know what - in reality, it was exactly what I needed to hear.
I could have shared this with a spouse at the time or a few good friends and peers but was unable to admit the frustration to them so I just kept it bottled up inside me to the detriment of other relationships and activities in my life that kept deteriorating due to my lack of ability or willingness to address the issue. Finally, with the help of a total stranger, I was able to move one.
Ever been there? How about family, friends and even neighbors who from time to time are needed to help us weather life's storms?
How can we handle stuff when we don't have an encouraged in our life?
Trials, tribulations, adversity, disappointment, failure, etc. are all a normal part of living. To deny them is to be naive and immature. So, what are we to do when they strike with or without warning? There are dozens of ways to manage life's negative circumstances and while some are more efficient than others many can be a waste of time, energy and even resources.
Enter the encourager, someone who can help you, support you, believe in you, teach you, encourage you and care. No one likes going through adversity alone especially when we are unable to see clearly the resources, solutions or answers that are obvious and right in front of us.
No one wants to feel abandoned or without someone who cares when life's negatives show up on our doorstep. We all need emotional support from time to time regardless of our age, gender, financial status or education.
Without encouragers in our lives during challenging times we will tend to overreact, fall into depression, feel hopeless, make dumb decisions or just isolate ourselves from the world.
Encouragers are an important part of our lives and believe me having gone through many negative life experiences alone I treasure a few of the encouragers I have had during my life. "Thant you - each and every one of you."
What does it take to be an encourager for others?
I'll keep this final question short and to the point. To be an encourager you need some or many of the following traits, characteristics, attitudes, beliefs, values, etc.
-You care about the influence you have on others.

The Secret Sauce to Achieving Goals

Are You Setting Specific Effective Goals?
You can set big goals, but make sure you can then break them down into smaller 'micro' goals. Once you've set a goal, then you need to be specific so you know what steps you need to take, and work backwards to create a schedule of actions needed to succeed. Actions make the goal setting system effective.
Are Your Goals Inclusive?
Focusing on only one part of your life is something you need to consider. When goals are multifaceted, you can have an impact on all areas of your life. You will find there is synergy across multiple domains, and you can easily achieve more than one in different areas with the same actions. There is no point achieving financial goals if you are not happy. Your personal life, happiness also needs to be considered. Aim for being complete, happy, and focused. Therefore, make sure your goals are inclusive and have an impact on other areas of your life.
Is Your Action Plan Relative?
Once you create the schedule, you need to truly consider how relative it is of reality. Say your goal is to be healthy and reduce your cholesterol by 10 points in six months. This means you need to exercise and eat right. If you don't schedule in the time needed, you won't achieve this goal. It doesn't happen by luck, or magic. Think of these as 'resources'. Time is a resource. A personal trainer, nutrition coach are resources to help you achieve that goal.
Are You Learning from Your Mistakes?
Often when setting goals, instead of learning from failure, people give up. Using the example above, once you implement your schedule to reach the goals that you have set, when you notice there are things you've forgotten to take into account, don't give up. Learn from the failure and modify your schedule to be more realistic.
You will probably have to rewrite some of your goals and your schedule, and this is the whole point of goal setting. Adapt, modify where you need to. Many people believe failure is something negative, however failure is the mother of all learning. So take it on the chin, learn and adapt to be even better.
Are You Accountable and Evaluating Often?
Accountability is key. Schedules are very important to the success of reaching any goal in life. Build a 'smart' calendar of tasks and activities that get you from where you are now to your goal. Make it a daily habit, a ritual, something you do every single day. You can even develop a simple checklist to check off every day to keep you on track. Identify what's not working, modify and also keep doing things that are working well for you. You can even ramp up the intensity of whats really working well for you to achieve your goals faster.
Are Your Goals Empowering?
Use positive language, ALWAYS! When writing a goal it's important to write them in a positive sense, and in a way that empowers you. Writing down a goal and then changing the words to sound more positive to make it more empowering. For instance, "losing weight" seems like a good goal, but for some people it might signify deprivation. So instead, you might frame the goal as "Look amazing in my bikini for my summer holidays."
Do You Have Too Many Goals?
Keep it simple. Don't try to have too many goals all at once. Everyone has a personal life experience, preferences, needs and wants. If you have set goals in too many areas of life at once, you will probably become overwhelmed and stuck. Break it down, achieve, set new goals, and move on. You don't need to do everything in one day. Aim for the small wins that lead to bigger achievements.
As you break down bigger goals into 'micro' goals, you will find yourself achieving something every day. Getting your 30 minutes of exercise every day is a WIN! So keep the momentum going and make it a daily habit.
Changing your lifestyle. Achieving any goal or simply aspiring to improve in any area of your life is a process. You must apply a conscious awareness to everything you do, and how you think and feel. So before kicking off your new goal strategy, work through these questions and set the foundation for success!

10 Ways to Live More Fully

Stop trying to be perfect: You already are. Yes, each one of us is a work in progress, but that work is perfect in its state of evolution. When you are driven by perfection, you are unable to appreciate who you already are. Try instead to look at what is right about you.
Stop Trying to Impress Others: The people who want to be impressed (in the way I am talking about here) are not worth your time. The people who will judge you without knowing you or based on some criteria that are not even important to you are just not your people. The people who matter will think you are amazing. Pay more attention to them.
Stop Trying to Be Someone Else: If you are comparing yourself to someone who has different talents than you do or if you think that you should be doing things a different way than is natural for you, instead start to appreciate how you do things and what your talents are.
Find What You Love: When you let yourself be yourself, you will naturally be drawn to what you love. But, what you love also shows you something about who you are. If you don't know what you love, experiment. If you like it, try doing it again and see if it grows into something.
Give Yourself Permission to Do What You Love: Once you find the things you love, do them a lot. The more that you do what you love, the happier and the more satisfied you will be with your life. If you know what you love but you are not doing it, get the support you need to give yourself permission to be happy.
Don't Waste Time Doing Other Things: Why bother doing things that you do not enjoy? Yes, I understand life has some practicalities that need to be addressed, but once they have been attended to-are you still wasting time not doing what you love? If so, start a plan to cut out the things that are not in line with who you want to be or what you love, and then take action.
Slow Down: We can all get a bit ahead of ourselves. It is not about doing more or doing it faster, it is about really enjoying our life. We can't do that if we are moving so fast that we don't even know what is happening. Start by building some real breaks into your schedule.
Pay Attention to What Is Working (Most of the Time): Most of us would benefit from being a bit more positive. There is a place for looking at what is not working, but when we pay attention to what works, we often learn more about it and therefore can have more of it. We also feel better about what we are experiencing. If you see yourself getting negative, find one thing that is working.
Express Gratitude: Being grateful is one of the most effective ways to be happier. When in doubt, find something to appreciate. And don't forget to apply it to yourself!
Learn to Fully Receive: The emphasis on doing that most of us have been enculturated into leaves us less skilled when it comes to receiving. But how can we have a full and rich life if we can't receive it? The next time someone compliments you, take it in.

One of the Greatest Speeches Ever | Jeff Bezos

How to Set Personal Life Goals for Growth

Change is said to be the only constant in life. Who you were five years ago is not the person you are today. However, you might be feeling like you are just drifting through like aimlessly without any target for where you want to be.
If that feels like you, then you probably have not set any life goals for yourself. Life goals are important because they give guide you, give you focus and a yardstick to know when you are headed in the right direction.
What are life goals?
When most people think of personal development, finances come to mind. However, personal development entails continuous expansion of various facets of your life including spiritual, social, mental and physical.
If any one of these facets of your life isn't in order, then all the others might crumble. Self-development, therefore, is multi-faceted and a continuous process that seeks to achieve self-actualization. It therefore never stops.
How to Set Personal Life Goals
You probably have heard that goals should be SMART. This means that they should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound. When your goals are SMART, you are able to visualize them and set up a plan on how to achieve them in the decided time-frame.
Before you jump into writing down SMART goals, you must visualize your life in five or ten years to come. What do you want to achieve by then?
Take the large goals and the big picture and break it down into smaller goals that you should achieve progressively starting today. The smaller you break down your goals, the easier it becomes to achieve them. As you achieve smaller goals, you get motivated because the bigger picture becomes that much closer every day.
Categories you Might Set Life Goals In
As stated earlier, personal development is multi-faceted. It involves all aspects of your life including the following: career, financial, education, family, health, attitude, physical, pleasure, social, love, relationships and spiritual.
It is essential that you focus on all aspects of your life and aim to get better every day.
Take Action
Setting goals and having a plan is one thing; but without action, it all becomes wishful thinking. It is important, therefore, that you start today to work on your goals. As started earlier, it becomes easy to achieve the bigger goals when they are broken down into smaller ones.
Do something daily or weekly that works towards your long term goal without thinking of how long you have to do it. This will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed by how much you have to achieve.
Conduct Progress Reviews
You will not know how far you have come unless you are able to measure your progress. A progress review helps you know whether you are still on track or you have derailed off what you should have been doing.
You can choose when to do the progress reviews based on the goals you need to achieve. You can do it annually, semi-annually or even quarterly.
Go on and use this guide to set smart personal life goals that will see you achieve you dreams in all the facets of your life.

When The Student Is Ready, The Teacher Will Appear

If someone is going through a tough time or is unable to handle a certain obstacle, they can have the need to find a way through what is taking place. Regardless of what it is, their life might not have been this way for very long or it may have been this way for quite some time.
Either way, one is not going to want to wait very long for their life to change. However, although they will have a strong desire to move forward, it doesn't mean that every part of their being is ready to move forward.
Inner Conflict
On one level, there will be absolutely no doubt that they want their life to change, but on a deeper level, they could be attached to what is going on. What this could illustrate is that there is a benefit to what they are going through.
This is what is known as a 'secondary gain' and it will be something that they are not aware of. Once they are able to become aware of what this benefit is, there can be no reason for them to hold onto what is taking place.
No Resistance
At a deeper level, one could believe that they would no longer be loved or accepted if their life was to change. Their conscious mind can see this as something that is completely irrational but to another part of them, it could be seen as the absolute truth.
So, if they have a challenge that has been hanging around for a while and they become aware of why they have had this challenge for so long, it will show that they are now ready to move forward. The teacher that they needed will have appeared via a book or an article or someone who is classed as a teacher.
Another Dynamic
Now, in this case, they will have been a student who needed to be taught something, but there will be other times when they are the teacher who needs to teach something. What this comes down to is that there will be times when they are the teacher and another person is the student.
Ultimately, every person on this planet is both a student and a teacher - no one only plays one role. Still, that's not to say that some people don't see themselves as only teachers that don't need to learn anything or as only students that have nothing to teach.
Two Sayings
One saying is when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, and, the other saying is when the teacher is ready, the student will appear. When only the first of this saying is mentioned it creates an imbalance; it makes it seem as though some people only play one role.
When both sayings are mentioned, it makes it clear that even if someone teaches for a living, it doesn't mean that they have nothing to learn. Therefore, when both parts of this saying are mentioned, it creates balance.
Final Thoughts
Another part of this is that if someone wants to teach something but they are able to find anyone who wants to learn about what they have to say, it may show that they are not ready to teach it yet. Perhaps there are more things that they need to go through or to understand before this takes place.
Lastly, if one realises that they are both a teacher and a student, it can allow them to stay humble. They won't believe that they are any better than anyone else and they won't believe that anyone else is any better than they are.
