Law Of Attraction - The Key To A Happy Life

Surviving the ordeal, is how some people see their lives, whereas others, see it as an experience to be cherished. No matter who you are, what your background is, how much wealth do you have, the topic we are going to discuss, will affect each and every moment of your life. The only thing that your happiness depends on is you and your outlook.
Believe it or not, the world is governed by one simple law. This law talks about energies and vibrations around you and also opens doors on how to harness them. The very basic language that can explain the law is, you will become what you think. Have you ever wondered, why some people always stay healthy, happy and positive throughout their lives, whereas some people seem to be irritated, unhappy and negative. After all we live in the same world and face the same challenges everyday. You may argue about the money in people's pockets and use a logic saying more money means happiness and less of it means worry. But, what if I tell you that most of the sleepless nights are experienced by the rich and wealthy and the most peaceful sleepers are the ones with less or no money at all.
So, with this logic failed, what exactly is this mysterious law that brings happiness and positivity in your life. The three magic words that can make or break your inner strength are 'Law of Attraction'. I'm sure you might have heard of it somewhere or the other. But, have you ever wondered what is it and how does it work?
This law basically governs your life, completely. The definition is simple, it is what you attract will affect your life. If you attract positive energies with your thoughts, you change for good and if you do the opposite and attract negative energies, the results will be demotivating. The next question that arises is how to really attract these energies around? There are no special skills involved. Voluntarily or involuntarily, we are all doing it throughout our lives. From the first breath that we take to the last one, we are unknowingly being governed by this universal law.
Let us get into detail with an example. A common situation with today's youth is the job search. Something which haunts their parents as well. Now, let us take two friends A and B who have both graduated from college but could not make it into any company. Now, A is a happy go lucky person who believes in working hard and staying positive whereas B is a negative thinker and has a perception that something once gone wrong cannot be corrected. Who do you think has more chances of getting a job? The answer is obvious. This situation explains the basics of law of attraction.
Various other situations and circumstances present themselves in our lives. The only key to being successful is believing in a better tomorrow and never giving up. A world renowned comedian and motivational speak, Jim Carrey, said a very beautiful thing in one of his speeches. He asked people to have faith and not hope. He referred to hope as a beggar and faith as a believer. There was a time when he had nothing in his life, but he never gave up and one fine day, the movie Dumb and Dumber happened and changed his life forever. You too are just a few steps away from being the one you've always wanted to be.
Believe me when I say that while I write this article, I am facing one of the worst situations someone can face in life in their lifetime. The only thing giving me strength to stay positive and write this article is this universal truth. It is the law of attraction that helps me attract the positive from the universe. Just think of the good part and let it work it's spell on you. Problems are a part of everybody's life, what matters in the end is how you see it. Remember, there is light at the end of every tunnel, you just need to take a few more steps to be free.

Stockholm Syndrome and Addictions

To understand what a trauma bond is and how it applies to addiction, we will start with a brief lesson on the Stockholm syndrome.
Stockholm syndrome is a condition that causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity.
These feelings, resulting from a bond formed between captor and captives during intimate time spent together, are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims. Generally speaking, Stockholm syndrome consists of "strong emotional ties that develop between two persons where one person intermittently harasses, beats, threatens, abuses, or intimidates the other."
Formally named in 1973 when four hostages were taken during a bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden, Stockholm syndrome is also commonly known as 'capture bonding'. The syndrome's title was developed when the victims of the Stockholm bank robbery defended their captors after being released and would not agree to testify in court against them. Stockholm syndrome's significance arises because it is based in a paradox, as captives' sentiments for their captors are the opposite of the fear and disdain an onlooker may expect to see as a result of trauma.
There are four key components that generally lead to the development of Stockholm syndrome:
1. A hostage's development of positive feelings towards their captor
2. No previous hostage-captor relationship
3. A refusal by hostages to cooperate with police forces and other government authorities
4. A hostage's belief in the humanity of their captor for the reason that when a victim holds the same values as the aggressor, they cease to be perceived as a threat.
So the important part to understand here is that even though the bond between captor and hostage seems illogical, there is a very logical reason behind it: survival and the need to bond.
The unfortunate experiments done on monkeys by Harlow illustrate the need to bond to survive. Baby monkeys were taken from their mothers at birth and given wood or metal "surrogate monkeys" covered with cloth to cling to. After a while, the baby monkeys saw these mannequins as "their mothers" and preferred them to live individuals. Then later when these babies grew up and had their own young, they had no idea how to parent and even threw their offspring against their cage and sometimes killed them. Yet, the little ones kept coming back to their mothers, preferring possible death to inevitable death and starvation if they were to stay away.
The way Stockholm syndrome is treated is through psychological counseling and the understanding that it was necessary to form an unhealthy bond in order to survive the trauma of captivity. It is a gradual shift in thinking, similar to healing from brainwashing. This does not absolve the victim from accountability but helps them break their unhealthy bond and cultivate new ones.

Developing Your Potential: Your Greatest Responsibility

We live in a brilliant age of civilization where we get to experience all the benefits of living in an advanced society.
These benefits are made accessible to us to ensure we have a high standard of living and high quality of life.
These benefits include:
  • efficient processes in our society, lifestyles, and business.
  • modern technology to fast track most things we do, along with all the integrations that modern technology brings.
  • having all our basic essentials readily available for purchase, use, and consumption.
  • the luxuries and excesses that are so accessible at very affordable means.
However, there are many situations where some advancements have actually brought us to a point where they have reduced our need to develop our strengths and abilities.
Strengths and abilities such as the need to stay alert for opportunities as well as risks; the need to be vigilant in ensuring our disciplines do not get compromised; or even our ability to focus further than a day or a week; many of these has been dulled.
Our Conditioning
We have become conditioned to play it safe, stay in our comfort zones or worst of all... not put our true potential to the test unless it's really, really urgent!
As human beings, in our day and age, we are never pushed to the limits of our capabilities!
  • Everything is geared towards the weakest link.
  • We don't have to put in a significant effort to stay comfortable.
  • The basics are received with minimal effort.
The dangers that these advances bring to us is: that our inherent human capabilities that ensure our optimal survival, are being diminished.
Human capabilities such as innovation, thinking, foresight, intuition, real-world intelligence or perception, to name a few.
All of the inherent gifts, given to us free at birth, that contribute to our development and progress skill set, that makes up our potential.
The Ultimate Gift
Our potential is given to us as a gift. A gift that consists of skills and attributes that are given to us so that, we are able to create and influence our circumstances and situations to allow us the experiences of phenomenal success.
This gift of our potential allows us to be resilient, so we can adapt to the dynamic society and circumstances we are a part of.
It consists of a wonderful capability to increase our innovation we can take basics elements and create or innovate awesome devices (tangible and intangible).
Our potential allows us the inherent ability to handle more than the average. We are able to lead people to better outcomes as well as to take care of many!
We are also able to increase our ability to provide a greater level of service and in so doing experience a higher level of fulfillment across all aspects of our lives.
It is those that work consistently and with a laser-like focus on developing their potential that are able to advance their own situation, and bring along those around them.
This is where our potential becomes linked with responsibility... the responsibility to increase our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical carrying capacity so that we can carry more of those around us!
Opportunity Knocks...
Now despite the stagnant trend of the society around us, the outlook for us should be massively optimistic.
The world is calling for more and more people to demonstrate, through understanding and application; the importance of stretching and growing; the importance of developing new skills gifts and talent; the importance of being the leader to those around us!
Our society is primed to take advantage of this massive opportunity. For the progressive and abundant mindset individuals to fill this void!
This is what you become when you concentrate on letting a desire to develop and increase your potential, becomes a part of your lifestyle.
So ask yourself: what are you doing today, compared to what you are capable of doing?
What changes can you bring about that will change your results from good to great?
