Do you get bogged down by a problem and feel you won't ever get out?
It's what I call getting stuck in the mud. Life can throw so many things at you and sometimes it's downright depressing. It might feel as if you're drowning in the ocean and can't find a flat surface to pull yourself up. You struggle and fight but it seems like you're sinking further and further beneath the surface. You almost give up until a sliver of light shines through the darkness and renew your strength.
Finally, a reprieve... you got out of the quicksand or the mud and is now free of the bind that tied you up. Despite almost drowning in a sea of troubles, you could free yourself. Remember, there's always something you can do to get out of the mud. Prayer works for me; it helps me to think clearer, which leads me to a resolution.
There are so many unhappy events going on the news and you might get influenced by it if you're tuning in all the time. Turn the news off, take a little respite from the internet and social media too. Have good thoughts for those who are suffering, wishing for better times. Bringing up happy thoughts can radiate positive energy. You can't save the world but, if you do right by someone else, then you're making a difference in your own life too.
You might need a little push to get out of the rut and one of my favorite thing to do is listen to inspirational audiobooks while I am driving to and from work. It lifts me up and makes me feel better about myself. One of my favorite audiobooks is Psycho-Cybernetics, by Maxwell Maltz and Dan Kennedy. The book is useful to steer your mind toward a productive goal leading you to a peace of mind. It helped me tremendously and I encourage you to listen.
Another thing to do is go somewhere or do something new. Experiencing something different is a good way to put the pep back in your steps again. You might meet someone new who will inspire you to be a better version of yourself or the new place can uplift your spirit by invoking good memories of times gone by. Remember that you aren't alone on this journey and can get help from others when you feel low. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need to get out of the mud...
